Talking With Your Patients

After you've determined that a patient may be at high risk for fracture, you may consider discussing FORTEO® (teriparatide [rDNA origin] injection) as a possible treatment option. Information on the following topics may be helpful for patients to understand why FORTEO may be a good treatment option after considering the risks and benefits.

FORTEO® (teriparatide [rDNA origin] injection) is indicated

  • For the treatment of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis at high risk for fracture.
  • To increase bone mass in men with primary or hypogonadal osteoporosis at high risk for fracture.
  • For the treatment of men and women with osteoporosis associated with sustained, systemic glucocorticoid therapy at high risk for fracture.
